In a world built on the ruins of past wars, the international community vowed never again. Institutions such as the United Nations (UN), the International Criminal Court (ICC), the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the G7, the European Union (EU), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and others were established with the promise of preserving peace, upholding justice, and protecting the innocent. Yet, as Gaza burns and Palestinian children are buried beneath rubble, these very institutions stand paralyzed — watching in silence.

What legitimacy remains for global organizations that cannot stop a small yet militarized state from carrying out what many have identified as systematic war crimes, ethnic cleansing, and genocide? When international law is selectively applied and enforcement depends on political will rather than moral obligation, justice becomes a tool of the powerful — not a shield for the oppressed.

The images emerging from Gaza are not mere statistics — they are the charred bodies of toddlers, the tears of fathers cradling lifeless infants, the ruins of hospitals and schools turned into graves. Israel continues its military aggression with impunity, bolstered by diplomatic shields and economic alliances. The result: the erasure of a people under the indifferent gaze of the so-called international community.

Statements are made. Resolutions are proposed. Emergency meetings are held. But no tanks are halted, no airstrikes deterred, no accountability pursued. The United Nations expresses “grave concern,” the ICJ issues non-binding opinions, the OIC drafts declarations, and the EU calls for “de-escalation” — as if balanced language could mask the asymmetry of violence and suffering.

This is not just a diplomatic failure; it is a moral collapse. These institutions, once envisioned as guardians of peace and dignity, now function as hollow bureaucracies — staging empty rituals while real lives are lost. Their failure in Palestine is not an isolated incident; it is symptomatic of a global system in which human rights are traded for political alliances, and where justice is blind only to the powerful.

Do we still need them?

If international institutions cannot prevent war crimes, if they cannot defend the most basic rights of an occupied and besieged population, then their existence becomes a cruel irony. It is time to confront this truth and imagine new mechanisms of solidarity — grassroots, transnational, people-powered — that transcend the paralysis of state-controlled diplomacy.

Gaza is not just bleeding. It is screaming. And the world, with all its councils, courts, and coalitions, has chosen not to listen.

द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध के बाद, दुनिया ने वादा किया था कि अब ऐसा कभी नहीं होगा। संयुक्त राष्ट्र (UN), अंतर्राष्ट्रीय आपराधिक न्यायालय (ICC), अंतर्राष्ट्रीय न्यायालय (ICJ), G7, यूरोपीय संघ (EU), इस्लामी सहयोग संगठन (OIC) जैसी संस्थाएँ इसी उद्देश्य से बनाई गई थीं — शांति बनाए रखने, न्याय सुनिश्चित करने और मासूमों की रक्षा करने के लिए। लेकिन आज जब ग़ाज़ा जल रहा है और फ़िलस्तीन के बच्चे मलबे के नीचे दम तोड़ रहे हैं, तो यही संस्थाएँ मूक दर्शक बनी हुई हैं।

जब एक छोटा-सा देश खुलेआम युद्ध अपराध, जातीय सफ़ाया और नरसंहार जैसी क्रूर कार्रवाइयाँ कर रहा हो, और दुनिया की सबसे बड़ी संस्थाएँ उसे रोक न पा रही हों — तो ऐसे में इन संस्थाओं की वैधता पर सवाल उठना स्वाभाविक है। अंतर्राष्ट्रीय कानून अगर केवल शक्तिशाली देशों पर लागू न होकर राजनीति की मर्ज़ी पर निर्भर हो, तो वह न्याय नहीं, एक दिखावा मात्र रह जाता है।

ग़ाज़ा से जो तस्वीरें आ रही हैं, वे केवल आँकड़े नहीं हैं — वे जले हुए मासूम बच्चों के शव हैं, एक बाप की चीखें हैं जो अपनी नन्ही बेटी की लाश को पकड़े हुए है, वे स्कूल और अस्पताल हैं जो अब कब्रगाह बन चुके हैं। इज़राइल यह सब निर्भीकता से कर रहा है, क्योंकि उसे पता है कि कोई उसे रोकने वाला नहीं है। कूटनीतिक संरक्षण, सैन्य समर्थन और राजनीतिक गठबंधन उसे पूर्ण छूट देते हैं।

संयुक्त राष्ट्र 'गंभीर चिंता' जताता है। अंतर्राष्ट्रीय न्यायालय केवल सलाहात्मक राय देता है। OIC आपात बैठकें करता है। EU 'स्थिति को शांत' करने की बात करता है — मानो संतुलित भाषा इस्तेमाल करने से सच्चाई बदल जाएगी। लेकिन न हमले रुकते हैं, न हत्याएँ।

यह केवल कूटनीतिक असफलता नहीं, बल्कि नैतिक पतन है। वे संस्थाएँ जो कभी मानवता की रक्षक थीं, आज केवल खोखले औपचारिक मंच बन चुकी हैं — जो बयान जारी करती हैं, बैठकों में वक्तव्य देती हैं, लेकिन ज़मीन पर कुछ नहीं बदलता।

तो सवाल यह है: क्या हमें अब भी इनकी ज़रूरत है?

अगर ये संस्थाएँ युद्ध अपराध नहीं रोक सकतीं, अगर ये मासूमों को सुरक्षा नहीं दे सकतीं, अगर ये नरसंहार पर चुप्पी साध लेती हैं — तो इनका अस्तित्व केवल दिखावा है। अब समय आ गया है कि हम एक नई वैश्विक व्यवस्था की कल्पना करें — जो लोगों की आवाज़ पर आधारित हो, सत्ता नहीं; जो ज़मीनी न्याय की बात करे, केवल कागज़ी नीतियों की नहीं।

ग़ाज़ा केवल खून से नहीं भीग रहा है — वह चीख रहा है।

और दुनिया, अपनी सभी परिषदों, अदालतों और संगठनात्मक ढाँचों के साथ, बस मूकदर्शक बनी बैठी है।
